Notice
Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) Response Headquarter,
Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology (TUAT)
Lifting of the campus entry restrictions and the start of face-to-face lectures will be changed to
Monday, June 15 (tentative).
On May 4, the Japanese Government decided to extend the state of emergency in response to the Novel Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) until Sunday, May 31. On May 5, Tokyo Metropolitan Government also decided to extend the request to universities for suspension of activities and the request to citizens for refraining from going out unless absolutely necessary. The current status of COVID-19 spread in Tokyo is still considered to be equivalent to Phase 4 (Pandemic Phase) according to the summary of the Japan Society for Occupational Health (reference below).
In case the state of emergency declared by the national or Tokyo metropolitan government, etc. is lifted on June 1, TUAT will consider the status is deemed to be Phase 5 (Post-Pandemic Phase) and change the lifting of the campus entry restrictions and the start of face-to-face lectures to Monday, June 15 (tentative).
In the meantime, students should be aware of the state of emergency declared by the national and local governments and the contents of TUAT’s Notice and Code of Conduct posted on the TUAT website on April 7. Please take actions not to spread the infection, such as protecting yourself from infection or preventing infection transmission to others, etc.
- After the state of emergency declared by the national government, or restrictions imposed by the local government, etc. are lifted, preparation of your study environment, such as coming to Tokyo from your parents’ house, can be resumed with the awareness not to spread the infection.
- From Monday, June 15, we plan on releasing the campus entry restrictions and start face-to-face lectures in classrooms where possible.
- If you wish not to come to Tokyo or not to come to school due to concerns on infection, we will
take account of the situation as much as possible. Please contact the student committee or your supervisor/advising professor. - We will explain the correspondence for lectures in the first and second semesters as follows. Also check the WEB Bulletin Board or TUAT website regularly.
- Until Saturday, June 13, only online lectures will be available.
- Please be sure to complete your course registration (June 1-12) and course registration confirmation (June 16-18) on SPICA. Your performance results as of now can be viewed on SPICA between June 1 and June 18.
- There will be quite a number of lectures (large-sized lectures, lectures involving environment difficult to avoid the three Cs or three conditions that facilitate the transmission of infectious disease (closed spaces, crowds, and close contact), etc.) which will be held online only throughout the first semester.
- Depending on each course, some will involve supplementary lectures, report submission, additional online lectures, etc.
- For courses that are not suitable for online lectures, especially for experimental training courses and lectures that involve practical skills such as physical education, major changes to the lecture start timing and ways the course is conducted, etc. will be made.
- All overseas student dispatches scheduled for the second semester have been cancelled.
- In the second semester, in addition to intensive lectures and practical training, supplementary lectures, etc. for the first semester may be held.
- Please be aware of the changes in laboratories' division requirements and timings, and other necessary measures. In addition to the WEB bulletin board notices, the Board of Education, student committee, supervisor/advising professors may contact you to inform the changes.
- Laboratory activities can be resumed if the conditions for avoiding the three Cs, three conditions that facilitate the transmission of infectious disease (closed spaces, crowds, and close contact) are met; with the decision of the supervisor/advising professor; after the state of emergency declared by the national government, or restrictions imposed by the local government, etc. are lifted. Please bring the Campus Entry Permit signed by your supervisor/advising professor and student ID with you when entering the campus until Sunday, June 14.
- Extra-curricular activities will be resumed after the campus entry restrictions are lifted. Avoid the three Cs or three conditions that facilitate the transmission of infectious disease (closed spaces, crowds, and close contact) as much as possible (such as postponing the new student welcome parties, etc.). We appreciate your cooperation in this matter.
- Announcement for tuition fee exemption application, postponement of payment, etc. may be made. Please check the University website frequently.
- If the national or local government’s state of emergency, etc. is extended again, we will announce the changes accordingly.
